About Wheels to Learning

Mission

Wheels to Learning Vermont believes that every student deserves access to high-quality educational experiences that inspire curiosity, exploration, discovery, and personal growth. We work to eliminate transportation cost barriers that prevent Vermont students from accessing the rich educational and cultural resources available throughout our state and region.

Program Overview

Launched in fall 2025, Wheels to Learning Vermont serves K-12 public schools in four school districts — the Mountain Views, White River Valley, and Windsor Southeast Supervisory Unions, and the Hartford Supervisory District. Our program provides transportation funding for field trips to approved educational destinations, building on the proven success of our sister program in Connecticut.

The program addresses a critical need in Vermont education: ensuring equitable access to out-of-classroom learning experiences that enrich curriculum and broaden student perspectives. By removing the financial barrier of transportation costs, we enable schools to focus on what matters most—providing transformative educational experiences for all students.

Proven Success

Wheels to Learning Vermont builds on the established success of our Connecticut sister organization, which has:

  • Funded transportation for over 16,671 students since 2018

  • Supported 286 field trips across 37 schools

  • Partnered with 16 premier educational institutions

  • Demonstrated measurable impact on student access to enriching experiences
